Performance Enhancement

Performance cam and free flow air filter ordered from Tec Bike Parts for the Himalayan.

This bike has always been a bit lacking in power, especially when loaded up for camping, hopefully these parts should help the bike deliver a bit more performance.

The next item to be added will be a 16 tooth front sprocket.

Sprocket

(Wasn’t Sprocket the name of the dog on Fraggle Rock?)

Will review when fitted, could do with a couple of Doozers to fit it.

Wheels Turning Again

The wheels are turning again, only local for now, but it’s good to be back out there.

As the restrictions ease and life gets back to more normal the planning will start for trips further afield. It feels like it’s been a long time coming.

Pit Run

Took a spin round some of the old local colliery towns during October, more for nostalgic reasons than anything.

Having spent plenty of my childhood days around Linby, Annesley, and Hucknal, I just felt the need to take a spin round some of the old Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire colliery towns. My ancestors and relations on my mothers side dating back into the 1700’s were miners around Derbyshire, Leicestershire and later Nottinghamshire.

Clipstone Colliery Pit Head

The Pit Head at Clipstone still stands quite majestic, and I think is listed. There is not much left to see of the other collieries, which is understandable but still a bit sad that a massive part of local history has faded. Fortunately I managed to organise a tour of Newstead Colliery back in the 1970’s, it was quite an experience.

Collieries aside, the area north of Nottingham is a really nice place to ride, as long as you stay as much as possible of the A Roads.

Of course the ride ended at the pub to meet up with the Old Bikers, though they were not out for ride that day.

I will do it again sometime and take the camera.

A short trip up Bonsall Moor

Bonsall Moor

A short run up to Bonsall Moor, mainly round the lanes with an odd BOAT thrown in. Didn’t go too made with the panniers on. It will be getting a bit bleak up there soon.

A trundle back through Via Gellia, still one of my favourite roads and has been since the late 1960’s.

Monyash Derbyshire

A short day trip to Monyash up through Via Gellia over the top to Newhaven and on to Monyash.

A few bikes at Monyash

Quite a few others had decided to take a run up there also.

Happy old bikers

The old bikers were quite happy, that was until the rain came, at least it held off until we left our local pub later in the afternoon.

The run back was via Bakewell and Matlock, we didn’t stop at Matlock Bath as it was very busy with tourists and bikers.

A pint at the our local pub, and then home in the rain, but it was a nice short run out.

Running in the Himalayan

Running in a bike is a pain, I thought we had done away with all that years ago.

First 300 miles at 3000rpm

then up to 1200 miles at 4000rpm.

750 miles on the clock to date, but the bike is getting smoother.
